A day trip to the Grand Canyon (South Rim)

September 27, 2020 March 24, 2024 Randi877 views

Well, I’ve lived in northern Arizona for roughly a week now, which means I’m overdue for a trip to the Grand Canyon.

Happy National Public Lands Day from me and the Grand Canyon to you and yours!

Jake is still in town — sleeping on an air mattress in my unfurnished apartment — from helping me move, and he wants to see as much of Arizona as he can while he’s here. I don’t blame him! Saturday was National Public Lands day, and we (Jake plus my new coworker Jane) decided to take advantage of free admission to all U.S. National Parks (I haven’t bought my annual pass yet, but it’s on my list!) by driving 90 minutes north to the Grand Canyon.

Jane, Jake and me.

We didn’t stay too long — Jake just wanted to take a look and Jane and I knew we’d be back likely multiple times in the future — but it was really cool.

We spent a few hours driving from point to point around the South Rim, getting out every so often to walk to the edge, wander around, try our hardest not to fall in (spoiler alert: we all succeeded in not falling in) and taking pictures.

Pretty dang grand!
Pictured: One of the seven natural wonders of the world. And the Grand Canyon. (Just kidding! My ego isn’t that big)

That’s about all I have for ya. We didn’t spend too much time at the Canyon since, again, Jane and I plan to come back for rafting and hiking and whatnot and Jake just wanted to take a quick look while he was on this side of the country, but it was still a pretty fun day.

Oooo! Ahhhh!

Already can’t wait to come back for some more adventuring. How lucky am I to live so close to such an incredible place!? Arizona is already so good to me.
