I got a pair of shortalls and now they’re my entire personality.
No joke. I went back-and-forth for three years trying to decide whether I should get shortalls. And then — after deciding that, yes I should get shortalls — I went back-and-forth for three months trying to decide what shortalls I should get.
I ended up getting the Levi’s Vintage Shortalls in “Foolish Love” via Free People, and I not-so-foolishly love them. I wear them pretty much every weekend.

(These are also available in various sizes/ colors via Nordstrom, REVOLVE, Tillys and Urban Outfitters.)
No joke. I’ve worn these to Sunday farmers’ markets, weekend art festivals and summer holiday parades here in Flagstaff. I packed them up for my trip to Chicago and wore them multiple days over there.
I usually just throw them on over a crop top. My three favorites this summer have been the NikiBiki Plunge Crop Tank Top pictured above, the NikiBiki Chevron Ribbed Crop Tank Top and the Old Navy Snug Crop T-Shirt.
Plus… Birkenstock Mayari sandals and whatever necklace I feel like grabbing on any given day.
I’m obsessed with these shortalls and I’m mad I took three years to convince myself to get them. The adjustable shoulder straps are really nice, and I love all the deep pockets.
You can unroll the hems or cuff them, and you can clip both straps up or just one.
I went with the size XS. They’re really big in the waist and very roomy in the thighs as well, and I’m glad I didn’t go any larger.
