What I wore most: Summer 2024

September 21, 2024 September 21, 2024 Randi418 views

While I did make my new shortalls my entire personality this summer, I did wear a few more things…

…including actual orthopedic shoes, no joke.

Pssst: Affiliate links to follow.

Mid-30s is so weird. I can’t bring myself to participate in the 2000s resurgence, but I’m happy to keep wearing 90s trends on repeat.

I’m somehow wearing crop tops and orthopedic shoes at the same time?

Anyway. I did a good amount of shopping this summer (thank you fire season paychecks) and here’s some of what I’ve recently purchased/ have been wearing over the past few months.

I mentioned last winter that I’ve been into color theory lately, so a lot of what I’ve purchased has been orange, brown or cream-colored.

・・・

Levi’s Shortalls. Yes, these are my whole personality. But, I kid you not- I wear these three or four times a week.

Cropped high-waisted wide-leg pants. I bought a bunch of these last winter, and I’m still wearing them a lot this spring. I traded black for khaki, but they’re still a staple in my closet.

Chicago Cubs hat. The Detroit Tigers are always my No. 1 team, but I noticed at a recent baseball game that my beloved Old English “D” hat has seen better days. I planned on replacing it, but I didn’t love any of the MLB shop options, so I went ahead and snagged a Chicago Cubs hat while it was on sale. I was living in Chicago when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016, and they’re definitely my No. 2 team.

Tie-back swimsuit and matching bikini bottoms. I absolutely love Jen Warnes on Instagram. She highlights clothes and bras for women with small bands and large cups, and so many of her suggestions are spot-on. She highlighted this Victoria’s Secret swimsuit a while back and I loved it so much, I bought it in three colors (green, blue and brown). I bought both the side-tie bottoms and the bikini bottoms linked above.

“DO EPIC SHIT” ring. This was an art fair find here in Flagstaff, so I linked something similar. A few of my friends and I got these rings to match, and I’m obsessed.

Nikibiki crop tops. My favorites this summer have been the NikiBiki Plunge Crop Tank Top and the NikiBiki Chevron Ribbed Crop Tank Top. I wear these for everything: under my shortalls, with high-waisted jeans, over a sports bra to yoga or spin class. Everything.

Old Navy snug crop t-shirt. These are actually the perfect length to pair with my high-waisted wide-leg pants for work wear.

More Old Navy crop tops. Ditto to the above. These are a little looser and don’t have the cute ribbed texture, but I will still pair these with wide-legged crop pants for work.

Gummy bear earrings. This adorable pair of earrings was another art fair find here in Flag. Mine are an orange-and-clear ombre with glitter, but I’ve linked something similar.

Birkenstock Mayaris. I love these so much, I bought a second pair.

Birkenstock “Bend” sneakers. Congrats, you’ve reached the orthopedic shoe section of this post! I’ve long loved my Birkenstock sandals (my favorites are the aforementioned Mayaris and the timeless Arizonas) but this summer, I actually bought a pair of Birkenstock shoe-shoes. I recently noticed that my toes have started to regain their natural splay after spending the last few years as barefoot as possible due to COVID, working from home, etc., and shoes with rounded/ pointed/ confined toe boxes just felt so uncomfortable. These Birkenstock “Bend” shoes are comfortable and don’t look too much like clown shoes.

Paw print initial necklace. This was a thoughtful gift I received from my sister this summer! Our beloved pup Yukon passed away earlier this year, and my sister sent this adorable memorial necklace over after our loss. I’ve been wearing it a lot. I’ve linked something similar.

Madewell “Perfect” belt. I have an older version of this belt that I’ve been wearing quite a bit lately — mostly to work.
