Well, we don’t have a kitchen, or window coverings, or a closet, or a dining table…
…but we do have a wholeass Christmas tree taking up our entire house!
Honestly, I wasn’t sure it was going to happen, but Ryan and I took a break from home renovations just long enough to hike out into the forest and cut down our annual Christmas tree.

We snagged a permit for the Mogollon Rim Ranger District, and last weekend, we headed down Lake Mary Road and onto state Route 87 to start our excursion.
We started (of course) with lunch at Old County Inn.

We were lucky enough to get seats right next to the fireplace. We absolutely stuffed our faces with a Caesar salad, a ricotta pizza and a burrata pizza.

Then, we started venturing out to areas along state Route 87, and Rim Road.
We poked around the Kehl Springs area for a bit.

After a few hours of searching, we found our tree a few yards back from Rim Road.

Ryan hauled our tree out and loaded it up into our truck.

We were treated to a wonderful sunset when we got back to the truck, too.

Ryan and I normally try to take our annual holiday card photos while we’re out on our tree cutting adventure, but we ran out of time. We got a bit of a late start since we had some house-related errands to finish up before we could head out, so we ran out of sunlight before I could break out my camera.
Regardless, it was still a great day! We got our tree back up to Flagstaff, and Ryan hauled it inside, trimmed it back a bit, and set it up.
It’s a really damn good thing our new house has taller ceilings than our apartment did.

We couldn’t really shorten it any more than we did since it splits pretty close to the base, but hey. Might as well take advantage of all the empty floor space while we have it, right?

We (aka Ryan) got it set up and adorned with lights, and we both decorated it with the Christmas ornaments we could find… we still have boxes of stuff packed up around here!

It looks great propped up against the exposed joint compound on our not-yet-painted walls, right? 😂
A little late, but better than never! Wishing a festive season to you and yours.
