What I read: February 2026

March 3, 2026 March 2, 2026 Randi

I didn’t get as much reading done in February as I did in January, but I’ll blame that on it being a short month.

A weekend with the littles: A visit from our niece and nephew with a Grand Canyon Railway ride, a desert hike and lots of ice cream

February 17, 2026 February 16, 2026 Randi

Parenting has to be hard. Obviously I wouldn’t know — the idea of me having kids is laughable — but after spending an extended weekend with Ryan’s brother Derek, and my soon-to-be nephew (Braxton) and niece (Adler), I’m even more convinced parenting is not for me.

Sorry mom and dad.

Derek, Braxton and Adler were able to escape the beyond frigid temps of the midwest late last month to fly out to Arizona for an extended family weekend celebrating Ryan’s dad’s birthday — first up around Flagstaff and Williams, and then downstate in Phoenix and Casa Grande, which is Ryan’s hometown.

Cake tasting! (The most exciting part of wedding planning probably) and the unexpectedly best brownie I’ve ever eaten

February 11, 2026 February 10, 2026 Randi

That’s it, that’s the post.

Ryan and I recently checked our MOST anticipated box off our wedding planning to-do list: Cake tasting.

A quick little 2016 throwback…

January 23, 2026 January 23, 2026 Randi2 comments

It’s kinda wild how pervasive Internet culture is.

I’m not on social media anymore, but I also can’t escape it.

Apparently there’s a little trend going on right now with the start of the new year where we’re all posting our 2016 moments and memories.

Like, truly can’t escape it. Friends that have posted their 2016 memories on social media have sent me screenshots so I don’t get FOMO. Thank you, friends! Glad to be part of your memories.

I obviously can’t share on Instagram, but since I’ve been around on this URL for waaayyyy too long, I thought it might be kinda fun to take a peek back in the vault and laugh/cry at the version of me that existed (and was thoroughly documented) 10 years ago.

Our engagement photos! Almost featuring a rabid bobcat…

January 20, 2026 January 18, 2026 Randi

Well, rabid bobcat or no rabid bobcat, Ryan and I finally got around to getting our engagement photos taken.

(There was a rabid bobcat.)

Moving out/ moving in: Settling into our new house and living without a kitchen (I think I can make anything in an air fryer now!)

January 9, 2026 February 10, 2026 Randi

The last few months have been so nonstop.

Like, I thought the homebuying process itself was stressful and time consuming, with the back-and-forth, scheduling all the appointments, waiting to hear about our loan approval.

And I didn’t even do most of that; Ryan did.

But the actual moving in part has been so much more stressful and time consuming.

Ryan and I officially moved out of our apartment last Thanksgiving weekend to fully move into our new townhouse.

January 5, 2026 January 1, 2026 Randi2 comments

Well, 2025 was a mostly slow year with just a few really, really big life events.
