2015’s engagement ring trends

February 10, 2015 July 31, 2017 Randi31 comments2280 views

Disclaimer: No, I am not engaged. And no, I will not be anytime soon.

With that being said, I had a chance to write a pretty fun story for today’s paper. Last Friday, I got to head into Ace of Diamonds downtown and talk to the owners about what current trends are in engagement rings. With Valentine’s Day coming up, the local jeweler has seen a huge spike in engagement ring sales (duh!). Mike and Kriss Roethlisberger took time out of their busy sales season to tell me what they’re keeping on stock because of recent customer interest.

Here’s the story.

Right now, engagement ring trends include:

  • Halo settings, often with a split shank
  • Cluster center settings
  • Contemporary styles (asymmetrical and uneven designs)
  • Rose gold
  • Pink diamonds
  • Chocolate diamonds

Even though I’m nowhere close to being engaged, I love being able to rock trends in whatever capacity I can. Here are some fun ways of wearing some of those engagement ring trends, but without the cost of a ring or the commitment of that whole marriage thing that accompanies it.

Click the arrow to scroll through and see all of my picks.

What do you think? Would you wear any of these trends, either in an actual engagement ring or in another way? Let me know in the comments!

I really like that first pair of earrings that you picked – they have a lovely vintage charm to them which I’m a huge fan of. I personally like rose gold a lot and my dream engagement ring is a pear shaped morganite with a rose gold setting. (AHEM boyfriend – are you reading this?? haha just kidding)

Morganite is so pretty! That sounds like a gorgeous ring. Here’s to hoping it eventually makes its way to your finger!

Your disclaimer is so cute! I feel the same way! I am loving these picks in the scrolling images. I love all of those earrings and that first ring set. I also love the chocolate diamonds! I have seen them in person and think they are stunning!

Chocolate is still a neutral too, so it’s super versatile! And thanks, haha. I know I’m kiiiind of getting old, but I still think I’m way too young to get married. Doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate all things shiny and sparkly though!

I loved having an excuse to look at diamonds for work. How many other jobs pay you to surf the Tiffany’s site? Lol.

Mad trends. Very fitting post with Valentines approaching. I must say that I went for tradiitonal with my engagement ring (my husband proposed with a plastic ring and I got to choose my own!) I went for white gold with princess cut! Great informative post.

That’s so creative and lucky for you! I can imagine it would be terrifying to invest so much money on a ring only to have your fiancee dislike it. Your ring sounds gorgeous!

I’m totally guilty of leaving tabs open on my parents computers whenever I’m at home around the holiday season. It’s pretty effective!

I bet rose gold is totally popular. That’s pretty obvious with how many times I’ve seen it lately. So pretty though.

These are great! I LOVE rose gold. And that knot ring? So awesome! I really like the stud earrings in the shape of a screw, but I’d want them in more of a gun metal than rose gold. They look a bit like pills to me…

I hadn’t thought of pills, but I can definitely see it now that you mention it. Maybe I’ll paint some Asprin gold and DIY…
