It fiiiiiinally happened:
I caught COVID.
Luckily, I’m fully vaccinated (and even boosted!) so my symptoms are super mild.
It’s ironic that after the past several weeks of flying from Sacramento to Chicago to Detroit to Chicago to Sacramento to Phoenix…
…I caught COVID at home from Ryan.
Guess it just goes to show the power and effectiveness of diligent mask usage and social distancing, huh?
Ryan picked me up from the Phoenix airport a few days before Christmas feeling a little sick. He ended up getting a COVID test done right after Christmas, and it came back positive.
I started feeling sick a few days ago… and voila.
I was supposed to catch a flight back to Sacramento yesterday, buuuttt as soon as I woke up feeling slightly sick, I rescheduled. I ended up canceling that flight altogether once I got my positive diagnosis, and now Ryan and I are isolated in our Flagstaff apartment with Yukon.
Being sick is a bummer, but I am super grateful for the extra unexpected time back home with my family.
I’m super grateful that both of us have mild symptoms. I just feel like I have a bad cold, but with an added slight fever. I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t end up with long-term respiratory damage, or “long COVID.” I like hiking too much for that!
Wishing you a happy, safe and healthy 2022!
