S#!T I’ve been loving lately (February 2023 edition)

February 15, 2023 May 27, 2024 Randi617 views

Some cool shit I’ve been liking lately, including a new restaurant in Flagstaff, some new fancy candles, Sedona hikes and fitness classes.

・・・

XPonential+ (X+): This is one of those fitness streaming apps. I subscribed on a whim during a $120 for a full year promotion, and I’m so glad I did. I originally planned to use it as inspiration for some of my yoga sequencing (XPonential is the parent company of the studio I teach at), but it turns out I absolutely love the AKT HIIT workouts!

My Tubbs Panoramic snowshoes: Thanks to our record-breaking January snowstorm, I’ve had so many opportunities to go snowshoeing so far this winter! I’m glad I bought my own snowshoes last year because they’ve been so worth it so far.

My new iPhone case: Back in January, my iPhone battery completely died. It was $80 to replace the battery or $35 to trade in my old phone for a newer model. Common sense prevailed. Unfortunately, my old iPhone Mini case didn’t fit my new iPhone Mini, so I bought a new one. It’s hard to find cases that aren’t covered in branding, but I LOVE this funky colorful glow-in-the-dark case that reminds me of movie theater carpeting.

Sedona: I realized last month that I went on one single Sedona hike during 2022. SHAMEFUL! I’ve been pushing myself to spend more time in Sedona this year (it’s only 45 or so minutes away from me) and the hikes have been so worth it.

Hiking around Sedona’s Airport Mesa Loop with Yukon (and Ryan).

Northern Arizona University ice hockey: I don’t know why it took us so long to realize this, but NAU IceJacks games are $8, and the barn they play at (Jay Lively) is literally across the street from our apartment complex. Ryan and I (along with some of Ryan’s crew friends) have been frequenting weekend evening games.

A very excited Ryan, who caught a puck.

Grain salads: I’ve always loved a good grain salad, but lately, I’ve been trying some new recipes and making a grain salad or two every week. Two new favorites: A black rice and snap pea grain salad with a Sriracha sauce, and a lemon yogurt barley bowl with avocado and snap peas. Both are from America’s Test Kitchen.

XC Candles: I bought Ryan a gift set from this Colorado-based company as a present for passing his pilot’s exam. I love them! They have quirky names and smell so good! Hopefully Ryan likes them as well.

Leather… and FREEDOM!

Big Bowl Noodle: This ramen restaurant just opened up in Flagstaff (replacing the old Na Di Li Korean restaurant, RIP) and I love it! I’ve been a few times so far. It’s reasonably prices and has so many options. It’s so hole-in-the-wall there isn’t a website, so Google it.

Knorr Pasta and Rice Sides: My “lazy meal” of choice back when I was living in Chicago and hanging out with my friend Mickey apparently makes a great backpacking food? I forgot ALL about these until a friend pulled one out during our overnight hot springs trip and then, coincidentally enough, Safeway had them on sale. So I’ve been eating them almost nonstop.

・・・

So, that’s just some of the shit I’ve been really into lately. No affiliate links (who am I?), just an earnest love of cheap pasta and good hiking!
