Life lately: Fall 2024

December 21, 2024 February 9, 2025 Randi244 views

Fall was full of days that were really long, but the entire season itself was very short.

And, this is a very short post!

Spending a day in Agra, India.

I recently deactivated my Twitter account, and I can’t quite figure out how to embed Threads posts, so the format of this post is a little different than normal.

・・・

TRAVEL

The biggest category in my fall recap is, of course, travel.

I spent a majority of this fall overseas in India, I traveled to Rishikesh where I completed a month of Yoga Teacher Training (week 1, week 2, week 3, Diwali break, week 4 and graduation).

She graduated, folks!

After that, Ryan joined me, and the two of us ventured to Anjuna, Pondicherry, Jaipur and Agra for a few more weeks of travel.

Ryan and I at the Taj Mahal.

I won’t take up too much more time here, because all the posts are linked above and you can read them all there.

OCHI

Which leads us to…

“Who was watching Ochi while you were gone?!”

Ryan’s parents graciously agreed to watch Ochi for the two of us during the three weeks Ryan and I were both in India.

Ochi did great, but I definitely think he’s a little disappointed to be back home with his actual parents. He loves spending time with Ryan’s parents.

YOGA

Other than the obvious (receiving my 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training) certificate…

Officially official.

We (the YogaSix community) also celebrated Lead Teacher Nicole’s upcoming baby boy with a baby shower back in October!

Love this community.
HIKING + OUTDOORS!

I didn’t do too much hiking this past fall, of course.

I took Ochi on one final paddle adventure of the season out at Clear Creek Reservoir in Winslow.

A good paddle doggo.

We were also treated to a little view of the Northern Lights from the Flagstaff Urban Trail System outside our apartment back in October.

Disclaimer: I didn’t Photoshop this photo, but I did tone it as I do most photos.

And finally, Ryan and I did hike out around the Spring Valley trail system in Parks to collect our annual Christmas tree earlier this month.

Ochi’s first Christmas tree in Flagstaff!
BOOKS, MOVIES, MUSIC + TV SHOWS

I recently finished up my winter guilty pleasure: “Holiday Baking Championship.”

I also binge watched the first few episodes of “A Gentleman in Moscow” (one of the best books I read last year) on my flight home from Delhi.

Otherwise, I’ve been a bit behind on my reading. I didn’t get much done this fall due to travels and training, but I’ve finished a few books in the time I’ve been home and I’m excited to share more soon.

MISC.

What else?

I enjoyed a wonderful visit from both my brother and my sister before I left for India.

The three of us went to the Lions/Cardinals game in Phoenix, and then my sister stayed for a few extra days and we visited the Grand Canyon and went hiking in Sedona.

David, Kelly and myself.
Kelly and I at Cathedral Rock.

I also turned 35 back in October, and celebrated with two of the wonderful women I met in my hostel during my early India travels.

Nikita, myself and Riya.

Overall, I missed so much of my “normal” life this fall, but it was so very much worth it for the experiences I got to live.

Grateful for these people.

・・・

This fall was so busy, and I’m excited to spend more of this winter staying home and relaxing. I’ve got a beanie to finish knitting, several books on my TBR list, a bunch of new recipes I can’t wait to try baking, and I think Ryan wants to finish teaching me how to ski as soon as we get some snow up here in northern Arizona.

See you in the spring!

My views are mine alone and don’t represent those of YogaSix, YogaSix Flagstaff or any prior yoga studio I have worked for. You can read more on my disclosure and privacy policy page.
