5/12.
A few of the teachers and regulars from the studio got together at Wanderlust over Memorial Day weekend for a little happy hour. It was nice to have some extended conversation time with some of my favorite students (rather than the quick five minutes before class/ five minutes after class) and to see everyone wearing something other than yoga bras and leggings.

Ryan unfortunately sprained his ankle at work, so he spent a few weeks this month resigned to light duty. Luckily, he was off his crutches pretty quickly, and he’s now back in the field doing what he loves most.

And speaking of Ryan — the sweet perfect man that he is. My wonderful husband-to-be surprised me with flowers and a kind note right before he left for a New Mexico fire assignment on his birthday.

I finally got around to taking a Yoga Sculpt class at the studio. Of course, it was the week before we shut down… but better late than never. I’d been really intimidated to try a sculpt class (I’m a bit of a yoga purist and prefer a power flow to anything involving weights and cardio intervals) but figured I should give it a try before I lost that opportunity forever. Of course, I loved it — and wish I would have tried it four years ago.

Which — speaking of the studio shut down. I’ve also been trying some new yoga studios around town. I’ve been trying out the Foundry lately. It’s a bit crowded, but all of the teachers I’ve had so far have been fantastic, and I can definitely see myself continuing my practice there.

Now that I’m not teaching yoga anymore — and my Wednesday nights are free for the first time in four years — I’ve been finding new ways to occupy my evenings. I tried trivia at Wanderlust Brewing Company for the first time, and had a great time. My team of two (myself and my studio friend Katie) came in third place out of about eight teams.

We also spent so much time at Wanderlust this month that Ochi finally got himself a spot on the wall of regular pups.

I made these Biscoff cookie butter brownies for the second time for a friend’s party, and they were a hit. The entire tray was devoured in a matter of minutes.

I had a little girl date with my sweet friend Kailey, who is currently expecting her first baby. The two of us took a spin class together at CycleBar, and then had dinner at Pita Jungle while we caught up for a few hours. I’m so glad she’s finally living in Flagstaff!

I made it back out in the field for some more prescribed fire fun at my day job. I was able to escort a film production company while they gathered some b-roll footage for a project, which was a really nice break from my computer.

I had a brunch date at Brandy’s with some of the girls from YogaSix earlier this month. I’m really hoping I’m able to maintain these relationships now that we don’t have the studio to center our friendships around.

Ryan and I had a surprising Sunday off work together in early May, and we were able to visit the farmers’ market in downtown Flagstaff. It was my first visit of the season, and I was so surprised by how much it’s grown since last year. I treated myself to some elotes while we strolled through the booths and tents.

After wrapping up “Detroiters,” I started on “How I Met Your Father.” If you know me, you know “How I Met Your Mother” is my FAVORITE show of ALL TIME EVER (we won’t talk about the last season), so I’ve put this one off for years knowing it wouldn’t live up to my standards. And — while it definitely doesn’t — it had its moments. I do hate that the series ended on a cliffhanger, though.

I tried out a new med spa for my eyebrows this month. I recently realized that there’s a business quite literally across the street from my office, which makes it so easy to book a last-minute eyebrow wax and walk over.
