It was so exciting to head back to Washington D.C. to lobby for Invisible Children again!
Basically the only time I travel is if it’s something Invisible Children-related. Because, you know, I’m a poor college student and all. I visited D.C. once before to lobby, and made it out to California twice for different organization camps and conferences.
Exactly one week from today, I will be meeting with district representatives to discuss why I think it is so vital that the U.S. play a part in ending Joseph Kony’s war on central east Africa.
I’m excited! And a little nervous as well. For those who don’t know, I’ve been to D.C. to lobby for this cause (then H.R. bill 1067- the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act 2009) before. I was with friends from my hometown.

After the 10 hour flight in from Detroit and the tram rides around the country to find our hostel, I was a little too tired last night to do anything too big, so I spent the night in our hostel with Amber and Caitlin. But- I’ve already been able to pick up on a few things about the Netherlands.
Well guys, I finally had a chance to do some California dreamin’.
Doesn’t every teenager want to go to California? It’s totally glamorized on TV, and after watching shows like Zoey 101, I was sold.
Still sad my parents wouldn’t let me go to Pepperdine University, though. Real talk.
When I finally made it out to California, it was — of course — Invisible Children that brought me. I got a partial tuition to the non-profit’s Fourth Estate leadership camp, and so I was lucky enough to head out to the University of San Diego for a few days.
It was amazing.
Talk about a meaningful summer vacation!
