I’m formally assigned to a fire right now, and while I almost passed up on this past weekend to sneak in an extra day of work, I’m really glad I pushed myself to follow through with the plans I’d committed to months ago when I booked rooms and bought tickets.
I spent this past weekend down in Arizona’s Verde Valley with two of my good Flagstaff friends — Jenni and Lexie — for two days centered around wine and nature.
Another list full of stuff I probably didn’t need to buy, but bought anyway.
This month included both Emily Henry AND Kristin Hannah’s newest releases — so what’s not to love!
I absolutely hated gardening when I was a kid.
This past weekend was busy, but fairly productive.
Ryan and I had back-to-back parties on Saturday afternoon/ evening, and we spent all day yesterday getting as much cleaning done as possible.
Late April is always a lot of work around the house for us. I know a lot of people focus on spring cleaning (and we’re definitely not an exception), but for us, it’s also time for us to prepare for the potential upending of our lives: aka fire season.
In addition to getting all the deep cleaning done (it’s SO nice to come home to a clean house after a 16-plus-hour day), we do quite a bit to prepare for the unexpected wildfires that completely uproot our household.
A lot of that includes food. As much as I always try to do grocery shopping and meal prepping year-round on Sunday nights to prepare for busy office days and studio nights throughout the work week, I become absolutely militant about it during fire season.
I get very hangry very easily, so knowing I have a few healthy meals at the ready is one less thing to worry about when work beckons.
So with that said — my Sundays now focus on cleaning, running errands and prepping food for the week.

The Flagstaff highs are pushing 70 degrees all!
Summer is still a looong way off in the high country, but I’ve been dreaming.
And part of that dreaming is… ogling swimwear.

This past winter was mild. So, so very mild. I think we only had three snowfalls?
So, it seems a little premature to get excited about warm weather adventures, but… here we are!
It’s been a month since Ryan and I spontaneously adopted our husky pup Ochi from the Maricopa County animal shelter system, and what a month it’s been!
Namaste friends, it’s time for the next step in my yoga teaching career! This past weekend, I paid my deposit and reserved my spot in a month-long 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program in Rishikesh Uttarakhand: the BIRTHPLACE OF YOGA in the HIMALAYAN FOOTHILLS in northern INDIA!
To say I am excited is an UNDERSTATEMENT!
