Transitional weather

March 31, 2015 July 31, 2017 Randi8 comments1766 views

This wouldn’t be Michigan without one last “in your face” snowfall riiiight before April. Mount Pleasant woke up to three inches of snow this morning, but by the time I left the newsroom after 6 p.m., it was in the 60’s without a single snowflake or puddle in sight. And, of course, it started raining about an hour ago. All four seasons in one day: Pure Michigan. And of course, transitional weather is such a pain to dress for.

Here’s to hoping this is the last time I wear my snow boots before I can stow them away for the next several months!

hat | jacket (no longer available) | necklace (old via Forever 21, similar) | sunglasses | boots | dress | belt (old, similar) | tights | lips (MAC’s Rebel) | nails | statement ring

I bought this jacket for just under $40 at the Forever 21 in Ann Arbor back in the spring of 2010. I saw it on a mannequin and was kind of on the fence about it. It was a total impulse buy, but I needed a jacket that day so I got it anyway. And, surprisingly, I still have it. It’s one of the very, very few pieces of my wardrobe that I still have from college and wear semi-frequently, and has somehow held up to my ever-changing fashion tastes.

It’s no longer available, but I included the link anyway, in case anyone was interested in getting the information and finding it secondhand online.

And… it was also featured on an episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation! Holly J’s character wore it during a scene, and I got so excited to see something actually affordable represented on a TV show.

Do you have any articles of clothing you bought in college that have stood the test of time and taste? Let me know in the comments!

I love the trim on that jacket! It makes it look super chic and definitely not affordable. I was surprised to learn it was from Forever 21. Funny how small little things like that can add so much face value to an item.

Thanks! It’s also built really well, which serves as an unfortunate reminder as to how far downhill Forever 21’s quality has gone in the last half-decade. 🙁

I totally feel you on the weather, Ohio is the same way… Freezing in the morning and then upper 60s in the evening. It’s really difficult to dress for! I really like the way you kept your outfit mostly dark, and then paired it with the green jacket to be the statement. Definitely perfect for spring!

Thanks! The Midwest is so dang unpredictable. Half of the time I don’t know whether to wear rain boots, snow boots or flats!
