Sedona’s Wilson Mountain Trail: The extended cut (aka: why hike up and right back down when you can spend a night in the Red Rock- Secret Mountain Wilderness?)

April 20, 2026 April 19, 2026 Randi

The best part of owning a home is definitely the nights I get to sleep outside of it.

I spent this weekend hiking up to the top of Sedona’s Wilson Mountain with a few friends, where we took in the views over Backpacker’s Pantry dinners, braved the brutal mountaintop winds and sipped coffee while staring out at some absolutely insane views.

We have a functioning kitchen again! A loooooong-overdue house update

April 13, 2026 April 12, 2026 Randi

After six months, a lot of sweat (mostly Ryan’s), a lot of tears (mostly mine) and an unsettling amount of blood (again, mostly Ryan’s), we have a functional kitchen in our house!

What I read: March 2026

April 6, 2026 March 29, 2026 Randi

Despite how busy March seemed to be, I still found some time to read a few books this month.

Some better than others.

Our wedding’s save the dates (aka: don’t send postcards, no matter how cute you think they are!)

March 30, 2026 March 29, 2026 Randi

Not only did Ryan and I finally got our shit together enough to take our engagement photos…

We also got our shit together enough to order and send our save the dates.

Honestly, a miracle we actually got them sent out before the wedding at the rate our lives are going.

OF course there was a touch of a fiasco involved in the whole process.

So, now I’m here to tell you no matter how much you want to save like $30 and no matter how cute and retro you think postcards are, do NOT use them as save the dates.

February odds and ends: Patio drinks in Flag (weird), all the puppies at the yoga studio, and Heated Rivalry on repeat

What I read: February 2026

March 3, 2026 March 2, 2026 Randi

I didn’t get as much reading done in February as I did in January, but I’ll blame that on it being a short month.

A weekend with the littles: A visit from our niece and nephew with a Grand Canyon Railway ride, a desert hike and lots of ice cream

February 17, 2026 February 16, 2026 Randi

Parenting has to be hard. Obviously I wouldn’t know — the idea of me having kids is laughable — but after spending an extended weekend with Ryan’s brother Derek, and my soon-to-be nephew (Braxton) and niece (Adler), I’m even more convinced parenting is not for me.

Sorry mom and dad.

Derek, Braxton and Adler were able to escape the beyond frigid temps of the midwest late last month to fly out to Arizona for an extended family weekend celebrating Ryan’s dad’s birthday — first up around Flagstaff and Williams, and then downstate in Phoenix and Casa Grande, which is Ryan’s hometown.

Cake tasting! (The most exciting part of wedding planning probably) and the unexpectedly best brownie I’ve ever eaten

February 11, 2026 February 10, 2026 Randi

That’s it, that’s the post.

Ryan and I recently checked our MOST anticipated box off our wedding planning to-do list: Cake tasting.
